How to do it

Two ways to get smaller

Quality reduces the data used per pixel. Resizing reduces the number of pixels. For a photo destined for a website, resizing to a sensible width usually saves far more than any quality setting, and costs less visible detail. Do both.

Compression is one-way

Every lossy save discards data permanently. Compress from your original, not from an already-compressed copy, and avoid repeatedly re-saving the same file.
